Couples may seek counseling for a number of reasons, including communication problems, conflict resolution, parenting concerns, infidelity, trust violations, and “growing apart.” Dr. MacRoy can help partners understand the positive and negative behaviors that they may contribute to the relationship. Partners and couples can learn to improve communication skills, resolve disagreements, increase intimacy, and respect individual differences.
Dr. MacRoy helps clients learn to cope with the stressors that can be present at various stages of a relationship and within family life. Parenting issues can be addressed to ensure the well-being of the children. Couples can also improve their ability to constructively address changes within the family and to negotiate differences in expectations. It is Dr. MacRoy’s goal that each partner comes away from couples therapy with the ability to deal with each other with respect and kindness, feeling understood and acknowledged.
